My father was an engineer with the Ventura County Fire Department (specifically Station 27). After his death, many stories come out. One that I didn't know about was a borate bomber blasting him, the captain, and the engine with it's goo. My dad didn't care about him, only about the mess it made to the engine! One story I knew of was my dad trying to avoid paperwork. A truck plowed off the side mirror of the engine, and to reduce the paperwork, he fixed it himself. I know there are many more stories, and that they range from fun to a lesson learned. Emergency personnel and their families have something in common, and know that only one of them will understand what it is like to be in that family. The one thing I'm sure about is that I'm very grateful to be a part of this all-encompassing family, and would like the general public to know what it is like. So, I'm interested in compiling a book of emergency personnel stories. It could be something you've done, something a colleague has done, or even something your family would like to share.
